The Joy In Revisiting Movies Part 3: Appreciation

Image
When we watch movies or tv shows when we’re kids, we enjoy the entertainment they have to offer, whether it’s the colourful visuals, the funny character, and maybe sometimes we can feel empathy for them too. However, as we grow into teenagers or adults, we can revisit our childhood movies, and we probably gain a bigger appreciation for these movies because we can see how meaningful they are, because they have messages or relatable problems we can empathize with. It can help us understand why we might miss being little kids, because we didn’t have much to worry about, like homework and many responsibilities, some of those movies show that these things are inevitable as we grow up, but they also try to help us learn to go with it, but also provide some form of assurance and it might succeed in helping them and know that though things are hard, it will all be okay. Here are some movies that I’m sure a lot of us grew to love even more as we got older.   The Incredibles I fin...

The Joy In Revisiting Movies Part 2: Adult Jokes For Kids

Image
Previously, we talked about why foreshadowing can be a great thing about revisiting movies, especially our childhood movies, but there’s a lot more to revisiting than just catching clues we missed before, this one’s also about revisiting them as we grow up, while the children can giggle at the humour of these films, whether it was slapstick gag or maybe the characters doing or saying something funny, adults might also get a good laugh at them but they could also get a good laugh at some jokes that will fly over the children’s heads, but it’s never done to make the movie inappropriate but just to give the adults something to enjoy so everyone can enjoy the movie. A lot of the movies I watched growing up did have a lot of grown up humour that took me years to understand and now whenever I revisit them, I tend to break into giggles now that I understand them better, and here are some great examples to show that these movies are not just for kids.   DreamWorks DreamWorks s...

The Joy In Revisiting Movies Part 1: Foreshadowing

Image
When we watch movies, we can be enamoured for many reasons, they can have pretty visuals or environments to be in, especially in places like New York City, or the UK, we could love the characters, relate to their situations, appreciate the lessons they have to offer, see some of our favourite actors bring great performances and bringing characters to life and if well done, we can see how much love and passion is put into the projects. We might like these movies so much that we might find ourselves constantly rewatching them, which could be annoying, but there can be great things about revisiting movies, there are so many things that make revisiting a movie great that I decided to split these reasons up into 3 different articles to discuss them separately. Be prepared for 3 articles about the beauty in revisiting movies, especially ones that a lot of us saw as kids, for 3 things, foreshadowing, catching adult jokes and appreciating them as we grow up.   The first article ...

Disney Princess Models

Image
The Walt Disney company has given a lot of us beloved characters over the years, from Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Pinocchio, Simba, Timon and Pumbaa, Lilo and Stitch, Winnie The Pooh, and so much more. Some of their most famous characters are the princesses, Disney has given us many princesses over the years, even at the beginning, seeing how their first movie was Snow White, and then we got more, from Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Mulan, Rapunzel, Anna and Elsa. I’m sure a lot of girls loved these characters, they probably dressed up like them for Halloween, on playdates or at birthday parties, were probably so excited to meet them at the parks, especially if you got to go to the castle. However, nowadays, some could be seen as lousy role models, sometimes it could be because they don’t do anything at all, or for being stupid, like being criticized for giving up their voices for a man, or not standing up for themselves, or some think that a man had saved their lives. We...

Why The Best Gifts Are Experiences

Image
When we were kids, we loved waking up on Christmas morning because we loved seeing whatever toys and gifts Santa Clause brought us, we had things to play with and even things we could share with our friends or playmates on playdates or even have favourite stuffed animals. However, once we get older and deal with the dark and cynical world we live in, dealing with responsibilities and sometimes hard expectations to fulfill and stress over getting ready, a lot of the magic can be gone and sometimes receiving gifts for Christmas or on our birthdays aren’t always as fun as they used to be. Sometimes we get too many gifts, some things we either won’t use or sometimes we can get those things ourselves, although sometimes certain gifts can be great if the giver was thoughtful, thinking of the person’s best interests, whether it was bought at a store or handmade. Gift cards can be good ones, so you can choose the things you like. As I’ve grown I haven’t always like getting a lot of gifts...
