The Beauty In Exploring New Places

Image
Whether we’re introverts or extroverts there can be something we all have in common, we all might long for adventure, even during quarantine during COVID. We’ve been stuck inside, we couldn’t go see our friends, go out to eat, we couldn’t travel, see shows or plays, we were inside with our families, which was nice don’t get me wrong, but having to be around each other for such a long time could lead to some tension and stress due to having to spend time surviving until we got our vaccines, resulting in members getting into each other’s hair, some emotional meltdowns or feeling so drained it led to some health problems. Once people got their vaccines and the virus was becoming less of a problem, it felt great to do those things again. Plus, being inside probably made one appreciate adventures a lot more, sure maybe a lot of us were still in survival mode and some of us probably still are, but it still was a breath of fresh air.   Even though I’m an introvert, I do like to...

The Importance of Learning CPR

Image
It doesn’t seem to be essential in school or in general, but there is a skill that I think is very important to learn and that skill is CPR. Life can be scary, sometimes unexpected things can happen like car crashes, surprise attacks and assaults, murderous people and sometimes, one could pass out due to a fainting spell or heart issues like a cardiac arrest or a heart attack. For the last one I mentioned, it can be really scary and stressful, if someone like your friend or family member is on the ground unexpectedly, it’s even worse when you don’t know what to do. That’s why it’s important to learn CPR, and first aid skills, because it could save a life, you could help if someone got hurt and more. A couple of things that happened to a friend and one of my childhood crushes, are why I feel so strongly about it.   Friend About a decade ago, I was told that some friends of my mom’s were playing golf but then one of them had a heart attack. Everyone was horrified but t...

My Terry Fox Experience(s)

Image
Canada has had many historical events that changed many lives over the years and they’ve had figures that inspired many Canadians too. One of those figures was Terry Fox and his Marathon Of Hope. There once was a man named Terry Fox, born in Winnipeg Manitoba, he was athletic and determined. He had been diagnosed with bone cancer and had to have his leg amputated. After spending time in the hospital with some cancer patients, including children, he was determined to find a way to put an end to this terrible disease, he trained himself for 18 months so he could get ready. On April 12 th 1980, he dipped his foot into the Atlantic Ocean and began his run, which he called, The Marathon Of Hope, in Newfoundland. He ran through Quebec and Ontario, he raised a lot of money, he even spent time with a little boy who also had his leg amputated, for 143 days, he slowly then quickly got a lot of support. Sadly, his marathon would be cut short when he was in Thunder Bay, Ontario, the cance...

Why Kid Shows Are Not Just For Kids

Image
As we grew out of our baby sizes, started walking, potty training or talking, or transitioned from sleeping in a crib to a bed, our parents wanted to provide us with entertainment that could both entertain and educate us without knowing it. There were great shows like Sesame Street, Blue’s Clues and The Wiggles, and we’d also get crap like Caillou, Barney and Teletubbies (I will say I would pick Barney over Teletubbies because at the very least it teaches children, albeit in an overly sentimental and sappy way but it’s better than minutes of gibberish nothingness). As we grew up, a lot of us grew out of these shows because we got interested in different things and sometimes we would stop watching them because we thought they were too childish, while I do agree, at least when it comes to the crappy shows I mentioned and especially a lot of shows nowadays, there are some like the good ones I mentioned and some others I have yet to mention. I don't have kids and I don't babysit,...
